Nursing beds are used in hospitals, homes and nursing homes so that patients can rest comfortably.
Is there a risk of the person using it falling out of the hospital bed?
What is the physical condition and status of the person using it?
Will the caregiver be able to perform physical tasks, such as swinging a lever?
How much care will the patient need while they are bedridden?
While these are some of the basic questions you need to answer, there may be other factors to consider depending on your requirements.
Manual beds
Manual nursing beds require a lever to be turned manually to perform all adjustments, whether it's to the head, feet or height. Usually, the lever is located at the head or foot of the bed and requires a person to bend or kneel to use the lever. It may not be located in as many places as a motorized bed because of the need to manually operate it. Manual activation requires some force. If the person who has to adjust the position, either the patient or the caregiver, has limited mobility or is frail, then this may not be the right choice.
Semi-electric hospital bed
This nursing bed uses a small motor to make adjustments. Although head and foot adjustments can be made using a remote control with individual switches, you will still need to make height adjustments manually using a lever. If you only need to adjust the height on rare occasions, then you can choose this instead of the full version of the electric bed.
Fully electric hospital bed
The fully electric nursing bed is the same as the semi-electric version, except that in addition to the head and foot adjustments, the height can be adjusted using a remote control. It uses a pulley system and steel cables to make height adjustments without any problems. This type of bed outperforms all other types of beds in terms of ease of use.
